A monitorização de sistemas representa um papel fundamental para assegurar o
bom funcionamento dos mais variados sistemas informáticos.
Sem o recurso a sistemas de monitorização eficientes, torna-se tarefa árdua
intervir imediatamente aquando de uma falha no sistema. Tal prontidão na resolução de
problemas é fulcral em sistemas em que seja necessária a máxima disponibilidade.
Um sistema de monitorização eficiente estabelece-se através da correcta
parametrização da ferramenta de alarmística em uso, e respectiva implementação dos
agentes de alarmística, os quais correspondem à componente (software) que reside na
máquina monitorizada. É este software que retorna a informação sobre o estado do
sistema monitorizado, sendo sobre a análise e desenvolvimento de agentes de
alarmística que este estágio se foca principalmente.
São também abordados os aspectos de parametrização com objectivo de
maximizar o desempenho da ferramenta de monitorização utilizada (Nagios [3]), bem
como o desenvolvimento destes agentes, com o propósito de monitorizar pontos-chave
ao funcionamento da própria ferramenta, o Nagios.

Without the aid of efficient monitoring systems, it becomes an arduous task to intervene immediately in a case of system failure. This readiness to solve problems is essential in systems requiring maximum availability. An efficient monitoring system is established through the proper parameterization of the alarmistic tool in use, and implementation of the alarmistic agents. These agents correspond to the component (software) that resides on the monitored computer. This is the software that returns information about the state of the monitored system. Alarmistic agents are the main propose of this report. Parameterizations to maximize the performance of the tool used for monitoring are addressed. We also focus on the development of monitoring agents to ensure the smooth running of key points of Nagios [3], the monitoring tool.
