exames internacionais).
This study aims to contribute to the reflection on the work of the school manager in a scenario of increasing implementation of bilingual schools (Portuguese-English) in Brazil, by discussing the main functions and roles that the manager develops in this type of educational organization. Starting from a theoretical framework about the school as an organization, concepts about school management, the roles, and functions of the school manager, we discuss the work of the school manager. Next, conceptions of bilingualism and bilingual education are presented and an explanation of the context of the implementation of these schools in Brazil. This is a study inserted in a qualitative or interpretive paradigm, which is a case study developed with different techniques of data collection, such as an interview with the school manager and coordinator of English language, document analysis and observation of a day of work of a bilingual school manager. Based on the data collection, we sought to know the perception of the school professionals about this type of school and the management activities, as well as to describe and understand the daily routine of the school manager, identifying the main functions and roles played by her. The analysis of the research data allowed us to identify that most of the school manager's time is dedicated to administrative functions, as well as that the roles of interaction with internal actors are highly prioritized, mainly because the manager has a lot of support from the middle management in delegating functions. Among the challenges that the school manager faces are the training and adaptation of teachers to this type of teaching, and the expectations and demands of the students' parents concerning the quality of the school, and the results of the exams that prove their English language learning (international exam results).
