dc.description.abstractThis dissertation, called Cork and its practical application for the creation of a brand, aims to analyze the possibilities of using cork in the context of household utensils, with the purpose of discovering new ways to use this material, and thus be able to create an own brand. The constant changes in society and the continuous technological progress have generated a transformation in the development of the human being inside and outside the home space, therefore, an acceleration in the rhythm of life that demands the best use of time to reach professional goals, and at home, to have quality time with the family. In this way, what is sought is that domestic activities involve less time and become easier with the support of household utensils. Through its analysis, from concepts, classification and characteristics, to existing companies in the market and innovative cases, one can understand the general and specific requirements of this sector. Through the study of cork, the importance of this material in the economy of Portugal is understood, considering that it is the biggest producer and exporter of the raw material and of finished products, emphasizing the importance of the development of new utilities. Next, some examples of application of the cork in the areas of sport, architecture, furniture, stoppers, toys and others are observed, with the objective of finding a space in which the implementation of this material allows the products of the domestic sphere to improve their performance. Thus, an analysis of the properties of the material and the products in the kitchen and table space that require it is exposed, sustaining the selection of the products developed in the design phase. Finally, the proposal of three household utensils for the kitchen context is presented, as a solution to the problems identified in the consumer research stage; as well as the possible establishment of an own brand from the production of these products.pt_PT
