The present thesis aims at deconstructing conceptual metaphoric and metonymic occurrences in some online Portuguese and Spanish wine company sites, with special reference to Tío Pepe sherry wine and Croft Porto wine, in the light of Cognitive Linguistics. The analysis of the imagery in these texts will enable us to uncover the underlying ecological dimension in a broad sense of the concept by unveiling links convergent and divergent cultural frames terms. It should be noted that these metaphorical images evidence a close conceptual connection with wine terminology itself, which is anchored in conventionalized metaphors. Hence, a thorough comparative analysis of terminology and conceptual metaphors and metonymies in the domain of Portuguese and Spanish winespeak aims at giving a contribution to the investigation of enological discourse as a genre.
