amostra continha 4.561 sujeitos.
discrepantes quando comparados com Censo brasileiro e o da educação a distância (ABED);
Deste modo
feminino.
The main purpose of this dissertation is to establish the socioeconomic and demographic profile of presential and distance learning students. This study was based on data acquired between 2012 and 2016, from UNEPI, a private teaching institution in Brazil, and contains containing statistical data from 4,561 students of the Real State Transactions technical course. The analysis was able to capture the economical and social instabilities in Brazil, which started in 2014, resulting in a large PIB retraction which heavily affected the civil construction market, and therefore, affected the variables studied in this work. Considering this context, among the main conclusions of this dissertation, it can be highlighted that (i) distance learning students are marginally older than the presential students, with (ii) female students on average older in both modalities. (iii) Although male students were the majority in both modalities, more of them were enrolled in the presential course, which is in constrast to the Brazilian and ABED Census. After 2014, (iv) there was a significant increase in the proportion of female students in the distance learning course, (v) who were also able to deliver a higher completion rate, not only in distance learning, but in the presential course as well, (vi ) surpassing the male's completion rate after 2014. In this way, this study shows that the change in the Brazilian politcal and socio-economical scenario has impacted the profile of the students. In general, the gender proportion was unbalenced, with the female gender presenting a higher completion rate.
