O enquadramento de Setúbal e a sua forte relação com o Estuário do Sado e a frente oceânica, denota o potencial urbano da frente ribeirinha associado ao passado histórico. Esta relação da cidade com o rio incentivou a ocupação industrial nestes espaços que são, atualmente, vazios urbanos e expectantes da cidade, nomeadamente o Baluarte do Livramento.
Neste sentido, o presente Projeto Final de Mestrado centra-se na reinterpretação do lugar e reintegra os seus elementos pré-existentes, associados ao passado da cidade, para a criação de um novo equipamento dinamizador da frente ribeirinha.
Surge assim, a integração de uma Escola de Música intramuralhas que explora a importância da memória associada à matéria e relaciona a Música com a Arquitetura como duas artes distintas, que se complementam e influenciam. Deste modo, através da memória e do som, é possível criar uma arquitetura que dialoga com o nosso interior e pode suscitar diversas emoções.
The setting of Setúbal and its strong relationship with the Sado Estuary denotes the urban potential of the riverfront associated with its historical past. This relationship between the city and the river encouraged the industrial occupation of these spaces, which are currently expectant urban voids of the city, namely the Baluarte do Livramento. In this sense, this Master Final Project focuses on the reinterpretation of the place and reintegrates its pre-existing elements, associated with the city's past, for the creation of a new dynamic equipment in the waterfront. Emerge as such, the integration of an intramurals Music School that explores the importance of memory associated with the matter and relates Music and Architecture as two distinct arts, which complement and influence each other.
