dc.description.abstractligação de Lagos ao comércio esclavagista encontra-se historicamente atestada na «Crónica da Conquista da Guiné», de Zurara. Mas a demonstração material dessa ligação foi a descoberta arqueológica, em 2009, na antiga lixeira urbana de Lagos (séculos XV a XVII), dos despojos humanos de 158 indivíduos nela arrojados, constituindo a mais antiga evidência, em solo europeu, de um lugar de deposição dos restos mortais de escravos negros da Idade Moderna. A relevância cultural desta ligação de Lagos à escravatura moderna serve de mote para a reflexão sobre outras formas de escravatura e levou o Município de Lagos à criação do Núcleo Museológico «Rota da Escravatura», inaugurado em junho de 2016. Nele se apresenta ao visitante a realidade social que, entre os séculos XV e XVI, desembocou na mercantilização de seres humanos. Simultaneamente, o itinerário urbano das memórias da escravatura corresponde aos pontos de interesse/paragens no guia «Lagos na Rota da Escravatura», editado pela CM de Lagos em 2015.pt_PT
dc.description.abstractLagos connection to the slave trade is historically attested in Zurara’s “Chronicle of the Conquest of Guinea”. But the material demonstration of this connection was the archaeological discovery, in 2009, in the old urban rubbish dump of Lagos (15th to 17th centuries), of the human remains of 158 individuals thrown at it, constituting the oldest evidence, on European soil, of a place of deposition of the remains of black slaves of the Modern Age. The cultural relevance of this linkage of Lagos to modern slavery serves as a motto to consider other forms of slavery and has led the Municipality of Lagos to the creation of the “Slavery Route” Museum Nucleus, opened in June 2016. Here, the visitor is introduced to social reality that, between the 15th and the 17th centuries, led to the traffic of human beings. At the same time, the urban itinerary of the memories of slavery corresponds to the points of interest / stops in the guide «Lagos and the Slave Route», edited by the Municipality of Lagos in 2015.pt_PT
