Resumo(s)

The present report is carried out within the curricular unit Introduction to Professional Practice IV of Master’s degree in Visual Arts Education; it is based upon the supervised school activity of a working unit, the Shadows, in an 11th grade class of the Secondary School covering the discipline of descriptive geometry. On a first stage the relevance of Descriptive Geometry in the representation is considered, by showing initially an historic synthesis, its role on modern society and the advantages of the geometrical knowledge in the conceptual process. The different projection systems and representation methods are shown as well as it is explained the way the science of Descriptive Geometry fits in the teaching programs curricula where its contents are described. Then the difficulties students encounters in this discipline are mentioned and the adequate strategies and teaching methodologies are referred, pointing out the use of software for graphical representation in the education of the mentioned discipline. On the second part, within the school context, the practice of teaching is described, focussing the subject of shadows and introducing a characterization of the school and the class in question, the strategies and methods adopted in the education of the subject, as well as the standards and assessment elements. Finally a reflection is offered about the work carried out, based upon the analysis of the data described previously
