profissional, modera as relações estudadas.
trabalhadores do setor tecnológico.
contexto português, ajudando a clarificar as divergências existentes na literatura. Ademais, o
The growing digital transformation and globalization are redefining work practices, with remote work taking on a central role in modern organizational dynamics. This accelerated transition, intensified by the pandemic, raises questions about the impact of remote work on workers' wellbeing, particularly regarding social isolation and the balance between personal and professional life. Motivated by this reality, this study aims to understand the influence of remote work on the feeling of social isolation and the work-life balance of information technology professionals in Portugal. Additionally, the study seeks to understand whether the perception of extra-professional social support moderates the relationships studied. Using a quantitative approach through an online questionnaire, the study gathered data from 79 workers in the technology sector. The results confirm the impact of remote work on the variables studied, although social isolation emerges as a significant challenge. On the other hand, it was possible to confirm that the perception of social support plays a crucial moderating role, mitigating the negative effects of isolation. These findings contribute to the understanding of the challenges and benefits of remote work in the Portuguese context, helping to clarify existing discrepancies in the literature. Moreover, the study offers valuable insights for the implementation of organizational policies that promote a healthy balance between professional and personal life, especially in digital environments.
