This paper aims to question and reflect on pedagogical practices and the position of the queer body in the teaching of Communication Design and the way in which this (teaching) is structured within the heteronormative bias. In this sense, it is developed through a theoretical, analytical and design approach that highlights the importance of recognizing the advent of queer theory as a method of studying and analyzing queer experiences in society, allowing us to identify notions of privilege and how these are rooted in academia, contributing to the oppression and exclusion of non-normative subjects. As a response to the need to identify gaps in teaching, with a particular focus on the teaching of Communication Design, the study begins by analyzing queer theory and its theoretical framework to situate the theme, and its motivations and challenges as a field of study that emerged in the 1990s. After understanding queerness and its relationship with the social status-quo, this research focuses its contribution on understanding the challenges of education in a specialized teaching context - design - in order to investigate the experiences of LGBTQIA+ subjects by analyzing their difficulties and experiences in an inherently normative environment and how these can be improved, suggesting, based on a literature review, an analysis of current pedagogical methods. To illustrate the potential of alternative pedagogical practices, case studies of queer practices for/by pedagogues in Communication Design were analyzed. As a result of the theoretical approach, the Queer Archive: an Imagined Curriculum project is formulated, a digital platform that aims to share contributions within the fields of queer theory, culture, pedagogy and design, with the aim of being a pedagogical resource that contributes suggestions for future formulations of curricular plans in various pedagogical contexts.
