A caracterização de representações leigas sobre menopausa e processo de tomada
de decisão relativamente à adesão à prescrição de Terapêutica Hormonal de
Substituição (THS) constitui o objectivo central deste trabalho. Esse propósito
concretiza-se no estudo, "à luz do Modelo Desenvolvimentista e Dialéctico de Joyce-
Moniz (1993), das significações sobre menopausa nas temáticas de Concepção,
Consequências mais Valorizadas e Tomada de Decisão relativa à adesão a
prescrições médicas de THS, de um grupo de mulheres menopáusicas duma
Consulta de Menopausa. Foram analisadas as significações hipervalentes de 15
mulheres em menopausa fisiológica e cirúrgica. O instrumento de recolha de
informação foi uma entrevista semi-estruturada, cuja técnica se baseou no método
clínico de cariz piagetiano. Como procedimento de análise de dados utilizou-se o
método de análise de conteúdo. Os resultados deste estudo permitiram a
operacionalizaçâo de uma leitura cognitivo-desenvolvimentista das significações das
mulheres sobre as temáticas em análise, através da sistematização de conteúdos
das categorias das sequências de dimensões / níveis de desenvolvimento do
modelo. Esta leitura é ilustrada pela análise dos estudos de caso relativos às 15
mulheres participantes neste estudo. Demonstra-se, assim, como é que as
representações leigas de menopausa e a tomada de decisão relativamente à
adesão à THS prescrita se estruturam na lógica do desenvolvimento pessoal e com
a sistematização dos conteúdos das categorias desenvolvimentistas (dimensões /
níveis) deixa-se um referencial para a análise desenvolvimentista das significações
individuais de mulheres menopáusicas sobre as temáticas estudadas. Das
conclusões deste trabalho sugerem-se as implicações da relevância desta leitura
desenvolvimentista para a promoção de melhores interacções entre os profissionais
de saúde e as mulheres menopáusicas, facilitadoras de processos de adesão às
terapêuticas prescritas / recomendadas.
The characterization of lay representations on menopause and the process of decision taking in relation to the adherence of the Hormonal Replacement Therapy (HRT) is the central purpose of the present work. Such goal is attained under the learning of the Developmental and Dialectic Model of Joyce-Moniz (1993), of the significations over the menopause in the themes of Conception, Most Valued Consequences and Decision Taking in relation to the adherence of the medically prescribed HRT, of a group of menopausal women, attending a Menopause Clinic. The significations of 15 women in natural and surgical menopause have been studied. The information has been collected through a semi-structured interview, whose technique was based on the clinical method oriented by the Piaget theories. As a data analyse procedure, we have used the process of content analyse. The results of this study have allowed the operationalization of a cognitive-developmental reading of the signification of women on the themes being studied through the systemization of contents of the categories of the sequences of developmental dimensions / levels of the model. This reading is illustrated by the analysis of the case studies related with the 15 women that have participated in this study. It is, thus, demonstrated how the lay representations of the menopause and the decision-taking related with the adherence of the prescribed HRT is structured in the personal development thinking. With the systemization of the contents of the developmental categories (dimensions / levels) we are left with a gauge for the developmental analysis of the individual significations of the menopausal women in relation to the studied themes. In the conclusion of this work the implications of the relevance of this developmental reading for the promotion of better interactions between the healthcare professionals and the menopausal women, that may render easier the adherence of the prescribed / recommended therapeutics, are suggested.
