Odivelas is characterized by irregularities and differentiations in its urban mesh and spatial livings. This difference is very noticeable when we compare Odivelas North Side and South Side. As the AUGI’s started appearing in the South Side, its urban planning started to become fragmented and it lacked many basic conditions that could provide a better quality of life for its inhabitants. These conditions combined with a high volume of older inhabitants and immigrants with distinct cultures, led to the segregation of the community and the deepening of stigmas and the feeling of isolation. On the other hand, with the implementation of a green infrastructure, equipped with network services, we look to establish, through its sustainable public space, a continuity and fluidity between the two Sides, always respecting the territory’s natural characteristics. Therefore, we look to promote the cohesion of the two Sides and to take down its physical and social limitations. The Multicultural and Intergenerational Community Center is presented as one of the facilities of our urban proposal. As its conceptual foundations, it has the multifunctionality of its space, which creates more opportunities for the community; the use of agricultural spaces as a means of a number of exchanges between its users, be it exchanges of knowledge, of cultures or socio-economic exchanges; and the appreciation of the moments of transition that its different spaces provide as well as the spontaneous social interactions that it makes possible. By understating this, we look to project a facility that establishes a continuous relationship with its urban proposal, as a way of creating a harmonious transition, not only between them, but also on various different levels. Therefore, it is intended to promote a better usage of the space, more interaction and integration in the community, a healthy and sustainable lifestyle, and to make the space more dynamic, ultimately creating a better life for all it inhabitants.
