Ficção especulativa nas Literaturas Africanas - uma ligação entre passado, presente e futuro

Este trabalho tem primeiramente como objetivo definir a ficção especulativa,
fazendo a distinção entre dois conceitos de realismo, o mágico e o realismo animista,
mencionando ainda as conceções do “género” e do “modo” do fantástico, bem como
apresentar uma introdução sobre a ficção científica e seu subgénero, o afrofuturismo.
Ao discutir o importante papel da ficção especulativa, destaca-se especialmente a
sua importância de implicação responsável e social no quadro das literaturas africanas.
Verificamos que a narração das histórias no continente africano, e também dos
descendentes africanos, conecta o presente com o passado e com as tradições. Por
outro lado, essa estética não realista fornece uma maneira de explorar o futuro,
buscando soluções para desafios atuais enfrentados pela sociedade africana, como a
fome, a pobreza e as doenças.
Em seguida, com base no livro Espíritos Quânticos–Uma Jornada por Histórias
de África em Ficção Especulativa, publicado em Moçambique, são analisados em
especial 15 contos. Os temas mais comumente abordados incluem o tratamento da
tradição e da modernidade, a relação entre seres humanos e a natureza, bem como a
crítica à corrupção na sociedade.
Considerando o desenvolvimento deste tipo de ficção, enfatizam-se fortemente
dois aspetos sobre a vitalidade da ficção especulativa no contexto africano. Primeiro,
a necessidade de mais perspetivas africanas no quadro da ficção especulativa e, em
segundo lugar, a necessidade de mais representações em outras áreas criativas,
nomeadamente na área cinematográfica.
This dissertation firstly aims to define speculative fiction, by distinguishing between the two concepts of magical realism and animistic realism, mentioning the approaches of the “genre” and “mode” of the fantastic, as well as introducing science fiction and its subgenre, afrofuturism. When discussing the significant role of speculative fiction, it is particularly noteworthy for its responsible and social implication within the framework of African literatures. We find that storytelling on the African continent, as well as among African descendants, connects the present with the past and with traditions. On the other hand, this non-realistic aesthetic provides a way to explore the future, seeking solutions to current challenges faced by African society, such as hunger, poverty, and diseases. Subsequently, based on the book Espíritos Quânticos – Uma Jornada por Histórias de África em Ficção Especulativa, published in Mozambique, 15 stories are analyzed in particular. The most commonly addressed themes include the treatment of tradition and modernity, the relationship between humans and nature, as well as the critique of corruption in society. Considering the development of this type of fiction, two aspects strongly emphasize the vitality of speculative fiction in the African context. First, the need for more African perspectives within the realm of speculative fiction, and second, the need for more representations in other creative fields, particularly in the film industry.
