O impacto das atualizações do salário mínimo nacional no emprego : o caso de Portugal entre 2015 e 2022

Desde 2015 que o salário mínimo nacional é anualmente atualizado em Portugal. A literatura existente revela que não existe consenso entre os economistas, particularmente no que diz respeito aos seus efeitos no emprego. Com esta dissertação, pretendo investigar o impacto das sucessivas atualizações do salário mínimo nacional sobre o emprego, em Portugal, entre 2015 e 2022.
Nesta dissertação analiso a literatura sobre esta temática e efetuo diferentes análises estatísticas procurando avaliar os impactos das alterações do salário mínimo nacional sobre o emprego.
Os resultados das análises efetuadas demonstram que existe uma relação neutra entre as atualizações do salário mínimo nacional e a variação do emprego.
Since 2015, the national minimum wage has been annually updated in Portugal. The existing literature proves that there is no consensus among economists namely in what concerns its effects on employment. With this dissertation, I try to investigate the impact of the successive changes of the national minimum wage on employment, in Portugal between 2015 and 2022. In this dissertation I analyze the literature on this subject and carry out different statistical analyses in an attempt to assess the impact of changes in the national minimum wage on employment. The results of the analyses carried out show that there is a neutral relationship between the updates of the national minimum wage and changes in the employment levels.
