Abstract(s)
A proposta de intervenção define-se pela inserção de um novo edifício que conjugue os vários períodos históricos da cidade de Abrantes, complementado pela requalificação e valorização do castelo de Abrantes.
Abrantes é um local de riquíssima história e, recentemente tem vindo a retirar partido da mesma, investindo na Cultura positivamente, tentando atrair tanto visitantes como possíveis residentes. Combatendo o abandono precoce das suas novas gerações e, desenvolvendo o Turismo. Existe uma vontade de neste seguimento, contribuir para uma melhor leitura do Património local por parte dos residentes ou mesmo pelos visitantes, contribuindo para o desenvolvimento da Cultura nesta cidade em particular. O castelo, pioneiro no nascimento da cidade, tem vindo a sofrer algumas alterações segundo este movimento, porém, em parte, não suficientes para contrariar o enfraquecimento simbólico que outrora teve mais vincado no passado.
Pretende-se trabalhar primeiramente a uma escala urbana, que englobe o núcleo histórico e que o insira na estratégia de projeto. No sentido de melhorar as acessibilidades do centro histórico, tanto na chegada ao local de intervenção, como na leitura de pontos de interesse ao longo do centro urbano. Posteriormente, dá-se seguimento ao foco sobre o castelo e consequentemente ao novo equipamento.
A intervenção arquitetónica no castelo consiste na projeção de um equipamento que possua a génese cultural e multigeracional, de forma a privilegiar todas as faixas etárias, onde seja possível interpretar os precedentes da cidade de uma nova perspetiva, traduzindo-se no Centro Interpretativo do Castelo de Abrantes. A reabilitação do castelo completa a experiência pretendida pelo novo espaço cultural, fazendo parte do circuito cultural pretendido.
The intervention proposal is defined by the insertion of a new building that combines the various historical periods of the city of Abrantes, complemented by the requalification and valorization of Abrantes Castle. Abrantes has a rich history and has recently been capitalizing on it by investing positively in culture, trying to attract both visitors and potential residents. Combating the early abandonment of its new generations and developing tourism. There is a desire to contribute to a better understanding of the local heritage on the part of residents and even visitors, contributing to the development of culture in this town in particular. The castle, a pioneer in the birth of the city, has been undergoing some changes in line with this movement, but in part not enough to counteract the symbolic weakening that was more pronounced in the past. The intention is to work primarily on an urban scale, encompassing the historic center and including it in the project strategy. In order to improve accessibility to the historic center, both in terms of getting to the intervention site and reading points of interest along the urban center. Subsequently, the focus will be on the castle and, consequently, the new equipment. The architectural intervention in the castle consists of designing a facility that has a cultural and multigenerational genesis, in order to favor all age groups, where it is possible to interpret the city’s precedents from a new perspective, resulting in the Abrantes Castle Interpretive Centre. The rehabilitation of the castle completes the experience sought by the new cultural space, forming part of the intended cultural circuit.
