instrumentos: Purpose in Life Test (PIL) (Crumbaugh & Maholick, 1964); Meaning in
Life Questionnaire (MLQ) (Steger, Frazier, Oishi & Kaler, 2006); Escala de Identidade
de Casal (EIC) (Cabaço, Branquinho, Crespo, Afonso, & Narciso, 2015) e Escala de
Avaliação da Satisfação em Áreas da Vida Conjugal (EASAVIC) (Narciso & Costa,
A associação
Some evidence suggests a close relationship between the Meaning of Life and interpersonal relationships, which are referred as one of the sources of Meaning of Life (MacKenzie & Baumister, 2014). Thus, the present study aimed to assess how the compatibility of the degree of Presence of a Sense of life in a couple is related to the couple’s Satisfaction and Identity. For this purpose, the following instruments were used: Purpose in Life Test (PIL) (Crumbaugh & Maholick, 1964); Meaning in Life Questionnaire (MLQ) (Steger, Frazier, Oishi & Kaler, 2006); Escala de Identidade de Casal (EIC) (Cabaço, Branquinho, Crespo, Afonso, & Narciso, 2015) and Escala de Avaliação da Satisfação em Áreas da Vida Conjugal (Narciso & Costa, 1996) (EASAVIC). Data collection was made online through the platform Qualtrics. With a total sample of 51 participants, the results suggested that Couple Satisfaction and Couple Identity are associated with the Presence of Sense of Life, particularly in the Couple’s Functioning Satisfaction and Organizational Identity dimensions. The strongest association arises, in general, between Couple Satisfaction and Couple Identity, and Couple’s Affective Identity seems to have a predictor effect on Satisfaction’s variance. Furthermore General Couple’s Satisfaction seems to have a predictive effect on the variance of Couple’s Identity too. Taking into account this research objectives, respondent couples from the general sample were also studied (11 heterosexual couples in n=51). However, in this field, a significant relationship between the variables did not arise. The only significant association that emerged was between Search for Meaning of Life and General Couple’s Satisfaction and Satisfaction in Love, but just for the women.
