Este projeto tem como objetivo alertar para a importância do trabalho desenvolvido pelos Bancos Alimentares, e ajudar a quantificar economicamente alguns aspetos do caso de Portugal.
Em particular, neste estudo serão avaliados três aspetos. O primeiro é o valor económico do trabalho dos voluntários que desempenham funções nos Bancos Alimentares em Portugal; outro aspeto é o impacto da redistribuição dos alimentos por parte dos Bancos Alimentares em todo o país, no sentido da poupança gerada por distribuir esses alimentos em vez os destinar a tratamento como resíduos sólidos; por último será avaliado o valor económico das instalações do Banco Alimentar de Lisboa, ou seja, quanto custaria o aluguer do espaço que foi cedido como sede para o Banco Alimentar de Lisboa.
This Project has the main goal of alerting for the importance of the work developed by the Food Banks in Portugal, and helping quantify economically some aspects of the Portuguese case. In particular, in this study three aspects will be evaluated. The first is the value of the volunteers' work at the Food Banks; another aspect is the impact of the food distributed by the Food Banks, as how much is saved economically, in terms of savings due to the food being redistributed instead of being treated as solid waste; lastly we will assess the economic value of the facilities of the Lisbon Food Bank, i.e., how much it would cost to rent the space which is currently let free of charge for the Lisbon Food Bank's headquarters.
