Personal and contextual factors in the construction of acting careers

Resumo(s)
The present research intends to explore the personal and contextual factors that are the basis of the formulation and the implementation of vocational choices in acting careers. The twenty eight student actors that participated in the study were asked to write an auto-biographical description of the personal factors and the educational opportunities they recognised as de-terminant for their career choice. The analysis of the results allowed the identification of per-sonal features, such as autonomy, determination and perseverance, which allowed them to overcome the social and cultural barriers they encountered during the construction of their acting careers.
