The following dissertation analyses the concept of postmodernism and its mainly perspectives, rather reporting its relation with others segments of art. It tries to understand the meaning, the ranging and the operationally of postmodernism, at the same time that approaches it of the historical, philosophical and artistic framework. In fact, this research observes the importance of the exposition Alternativa Zero (1977), the first great moment of the post-modern art in Portugal, and establishes the linkage between the postmodernism principles and how portuguese artists absolved it
