novamente função devolvendo à cidade a sensação
de sentir o rio. A cidade que na ótica do habitante,
tem vontade de mudar, vontade de avançar.
With a current perspective on the city of Almada, this document presents a reflection on the progressive abandonment of industrial structures that once represented a strong connection between the city and the river. In this sense, it seeks to develop a critical reflection and discourse that underpins a study of Almada’s relationship with the Tagus River through elements that allow for its transformation and connection with its surroundings. Having lost its industrial identity, it is with responsibility and a sense of duty towards reconciliation that a special vision is developed for the place, aiming to restore the [re]connection between water and land, with the intention of [re]imagining and [re]interpreting a forgotten space. The deterioration caused by extensive industrial abandonment characterizes a city in transition. In response to this problem and driven by these facts, a rehabilitation is proposed, born out of the intention to return a part of Almada, once privatized, to its inhabitants. There is a riverfront filled with expectant spaces, spaces created through forgetfulness, which urgently need to regain their purpose, thus restoring the city’s sense of connection to the river. The city, from the perspective of its residents, has the desire to change and move forward.
