This study was based on the theme of potentiation strategies, more precisely Post-Activation Potentiation (PAP) strategies. PAP strategies are widely used by professionals in the field of physical skills training. These strategies aim to boost and improve performance, both acutely and chronically. They are implemented through two or more exercises, the most commonly used method being the use of two exercises, where the exercises are performed in succession and the goal is to increase the performance of the second exercise performed through a potentiation generated by the first exercise. These strategies are widely used due to their easy applicability, as most coaches aim to optimize the practice and training time they have available. This study aimed to verify the validity of PAP strategies, through the application of different protocols, in improving acute performance, in this case, within the protocol application session itself. The study was carried out with 11 senior rugby players. Four protocols were used, composed by three different conditioning exercises and control protocol, to assess the effect of PAP on increasing vertical jump. There was no evidence of significant differences in performance improvement in the realization of the protocols, however the protocol that used the isometric contraction was the only that demonstrated a positive variance in obtaining potentiation. However, although no significant differences were found, and the sample was not large enough for more concrete results, there was no negative demonstration in the results, which suggests, that it is something that can be implemented without harming the athletes.
