| dc.description.abstract | Rhinoentomophthoromycosis is a rare, chronic, subcutaneous zygomycosis, characterized by swelling of the rhinofacial region. It occurs mainly in the tropical rain forests of Africa, South and Central America, and South-East Asia and remains underreported due to the lack of clinical suspicion, leading to severe facial disfigurement. A 32-year-old otherwise healthy man from Sao Tomé and Prıncipe, working as a bricklayer, presented to our Dermatology Department in Portugal, with an enlargement of the midface of 7 months duration. He reported a slowly progressive asymptomatic swelling of the rhinofacial region and the forehead, in addition to nasal block in the last month, and denied any previous local trauma. | pt_PT |
