risco.
características relacionais, sexuais e uso do preservativo.
The rates of condom use, as seen in previous studies, have shown that its use is insufficient and that the type of relationship influences condom use, for characteristics such as durability and risk perception. This way, it is important to understand which are the relationship characteristics that influence condom use or the contraceptive method of choice. The present study aims to: characterize sexual behaviour in emerging adults, access condom use’s selfreport regarding three types of sexual relations (oral, vaginal and anal) through two different questions to guarantee the consistency level; try to relate the way individuals characterize their relationships according to its relational and sexual qualities; analyze the gender role in the correlation between types of relationships, relational characteristics, sexual characteristics and condom use. Data collection was achieved with the help of 262 participants, in person and online. After the sample description, with the aid of descriptive statistics, the type of relationship’s (committed vs. non-committed) effect was analyzed together with the gender effect regarding relational and sexual characteristics and condom use, with the aid of the ANOVA of repetitive measures technique. The main results show that there are more committed than non-committed relationships and that the majority of the sample are already sexually active, being 17 the average age at which sexual life begins, confirming the relation between types of relationship, condom use and gender. The pill is the most popular contraceptive method, being followed by the condom which, in turn, is more used noncommitted relationships and preferred by men. Two fifths of the sample affirm simultaneity and many participants consider both types of relationship as monogamic. Besides emerging adult’s sexual history description, relational and sexual characteristics are highlighted for being positive and linked to committed relationships. Also men consider uncommitted relationships as more satisfying.
