In today's society, we give more importance to our image and its preservation. Skin and hair are probably the two features that stand out the most in a person. Our image is our business card, being the first impression that passes from ourselves. It is from this first impression that we unconsciously draw a preconceived idea from a person in particular. Thus, caring for our image is an increasingly concern in one's life. After all, there are situations that cannot be controlled, whether they are skin diseases or even aging. With advancing age, both skin and hair get older. In hair, aging is very noticeable through color loss. On the other hand, in the skin, besides the loss of elasticity and shine, there are also diseases for which we are more predisposed. However, some skin pigmentation diseases may also manifest at earlier ages, with the main triggering factor being solar radiation. Although there is so much discussion about prevention, the truth is that there are still no completely effective treatments for skin pigmentation diseases and even less on how to slow down hair aging. This work summarizes the process that leads to skin and hair pigmentation, a melanogenesis, focusing on the main therapeutic targets as well as strategies that can be used to control both pigmentation and the graying process. The objective is to present the theories about what can be developed in this context, to present their pros and cons in order to try to find an effective therapy for each situation. This review focuses on major skin pigmentation diseases such as melasma, vitiligo and albinism. Both vitiligo and albinism do not present many studies on therapy, because their etiology is not fully understood yet.
