Resumo(s)
The Babylonian Talmud’s Treatise of Blessings (Berakot) states the paramount importance of prayer and the way a pious Jew should behave and address the God of Israel. Within it, we find a small section dedicated to dreams, their significance and interpretation. It is my goal to analyse the relevance of dreams for ancient rabbis, how they influenced their actions and those of their communities and to what extent dreams were considered to be God’s healing hand and will at work. In addition, I shall briefly look at man’s evolving comprehension of dreams and its current use in healing, vis-à-vis the ancient sages’ views and beliefs.
