Nowadays, our society and culture are increasingly faced with the problematic of representation. Representation combines several subjects, such as gender identity and sexual orientation; the various standards of beauty, which changes according to the body biotype and genetics of each person; disability representation, which aims to combat the stigma attached to it, and, the most present, debated, and often controversial, the racial representation. I chose the theme of racial representation because it is a very current and effervescent subject in our society and culture, which has been provoking manifestations and debates that seek new perceptions and solutions to the problem of racism, aiming at a consequent and greater representativeness in the several cultural sectors. This thesis, therefore, presents the problem of racial representation mirrored in the universe of Disney children's and youth cinema, a possible vehicle for education, formation, and transmission of representation to its target audience. Firstly, I present the theoretical-conceptual framework/ literature review, in which I discuss the concept of racial representation and the authors who discuss it; then, the contextual and historical review of Disney's film productions, which is the chapter that summarizes the several historical and cultural periods that Disney's works went through; and, after that, the last chapter in which I discuss the specific case study of racial representation, using the example of two film works: the Disney/Pixar film, Soul (2020) and BlacKkKlansman (2018).
