| dc.description.abstract | Helena, em grego ʿEλένη, é talvez a personagem feminina mais importante da Antiguidade Clássica. Segundo a mitologia grega, ela era a mulher mais bela do mundo, levada pelo príncipe troiano Páris e por quem os Gregos combateram durante dez anos na Guerra de Tróia, tida como a maior guerra da Antiguidade. Esta guerra foi o tema principal dos Poemas Homéricos e talvez o momento em que pela primeira vez as cidades da Grécia se uniram politicamente. Helena é um dos símbolos máximos da cultura e mentalidade gregas: ela é um ícone da literatura, da arte, do cinema e está ligada à iconografia desde a Antiguidade. Esta investigação tem como objectivo analisar o mito de Helena nos textos antigos, e as representações dela nas pinturas de cerâmicas gregas que foram o principal meio artístico em que ela foi visualmente idealizada. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Helen, from greek ´Eλένη, is maybe the most important female character in Classical Antiquity. According to greek mythology she was the most beautiful woman in the world, taken by prince trojan Paris and for whom the Greeks fought for ten years in the Trojan War, the greatest war in antiquity. This war was the main theme of the Homeric Poems and probably it was the moment when for the first time the cities of Greece united politically. Helen is one of the greatest symbols of greek culture and mentality: she is an icon of literature, art, cinema and has been linked to iconography since antiquity. This investigation aims to analyze the myth of Helen in ancient texts, and her representations in greek ceramic paintings, which were the main artistic medium in which she was visualy idealized. | pt_PT |
