Abstract(s)
There are several reasons that help to explain just why European cartography from de Modern Age has come in for particular attention when compared with that paid to the other notable cartographic traditions of the same period, such as the Arabian or Chinese. The most telling of these motives relates to the confrontation that took place between the mythical depiction of the world’s horizons and the objective exploration of those same horizons.
