Abstract(s)
O presente trabalho tem como objectivo diagnosticar algumas das causas determinantes, responsáveis pelo problema do Insucesso Escolar e do consequente Abandono Escolar Precoce, que ocorrem com frequência significativa, no cenário escolar português.
Uma curta retrospectiva histórica da escolaridade em Portugal conduziu-nos até à situação actual da comunidade educativa portuguesa.
Referimos o envolvimento dos países da Comunidade Europeia no combate ao Insucesso Escolar e apontámos medidas construtivas, no sentido da integração dos mais jovens no Sistema Escolar Português.
A nossa investigação teórica foi complementada com o lançamento de uma experiência prática (estudo de caso), da aplicação de inquéritos em quatro escolas, dirigidos a destinatários específicos nomeadamente:
• Encarregados de Educação;
• Alunos que ainda estudam;
• Alunos que já abandonaram a Escola.
Dos resultados obtidos foram extraídas ilações consideradas relevantes para a configuração da problemática do Insucesso e abandono escolar.
On deciding to make research on the topic "School failure and precocious social exclusion" we intended to analyse some of the reasons that make this problem so serious in PortugaL A short historical retrospective on the Portuguese scholarity led us to the situation of the educative community nowadays. We got infonnation on the European Community measures to fight school failure and have pointed out constructive measures as to integrate the youngest ones in the Portuguese School System. Our theoretical research was supported by a practical experience - a study case - i.e. inquiries aiming at Students' Parents, Students attending school and Students who have already left school. The inquiries were addressed to these three specific groups in four schools. The statisticaJ study of the results led us to relevant conclusions on these questions.
