This article analyses the installation “Installation and Circuit” from 2008 by the Brazilian artist Julio Schmidt. Mixing various resources such as painting, scenography and il¬lustration, the work deals with the different types of visual images and their statutes. The analysis highlights the fact that this work produces mean¬ing by virtue of an ironic renovation of the pres¬ence of illusion in Art and by the discussion of the statute of painting vis a vis other systems of image production
