| dc.description.abstract | In this dissertation we study the impact that pension expenditure has on both poverty and economic growth, using annual panel data from 24 European Union Member States, for years between 2007 and 2018. We do so through Pooled OLS and Fixed Effects econometric estimations. In addition, the 2SLS method is also considered to address a possible endogeneity problem. Our results show that pension expenditure seems not relevant to diminish poverty and suggest that it has no impact on GDP growth. | pt_PT |
