do mundo.
diferentes formas utilizadas no combate Ă pandemia.
a Covid-19.
At the beginning of 2020, the world stopped to watch the news about the appearance of a new virus, which would later assume the name of Covid-19. The unexpected appearance and rapid development to the level of a pandemic, made this virus put every country in the world to the test. The lack of knowledge of the causes and consequences that could result from it turned this struggle into a daily struggle and sometimes not very coherent, from the population's point of view, leading countries to adopt the most diverse types of measures. This work will serve above all to analyze some of the measures taken in Portugal and discuss possible significant changes that could have been beneficial to the country. First, a comparison will be made between two countries that have adopted very different measures since the beginning of the pandemic: Portugal and Sweden. This comparison will be made through the analysis of graphs made with the help of mortality values and number of daily cases in both countries. With these graphics and information on the measures applied, a reflection will be made on the different forms of combating the pandemic used. Statistical tests will also be performed to reinforce some of the statements that will be made in this work. Subsequently, greater attention will be given to data relating to Portugal, namely hospital data: admissions, access to emergencies, number of surgeries performed, etc. In addition to the analysis of admissions by Covid-19 and consequent bed management that was applied, a brief comparison will also be made between the values for the years 2020 and 2021, and the values for years prior to the pandemic, to understand their impact in hospital episodes, not just related to Covid-19. Some topics will also be discussed, such as the use of personal protective masks, the importance of vitamin D, the impact on television audiences and how different generations were affected by the passage of this virus. This last point will be discussed with the help of a questionnaire carried out online and delivered to two schools in the municipality of Lisbon. The objective will never be to refute any decision made, but rather to question and discuss what could have been done otherwise.
