O presente Projeto Final de Mestrado (PFM) propõe a reabilitação do antigo Quartel do Regimento de Lanceiros 2, na Calçada da Ajuda, Lisboa, centrada na temática das Unidades Hoteleiras, surgindo estas como impulsionadoras do desenvolvimento económico, da diversidade cultural e do turismo, oferecendo empregos, comodidades e contribuindo para a preservação do património e do meio ambiente.
O Quartel é caracterizado por um espaço amplo, com um terreiro entre o edifício principal, que albergará a Unidade Hoteleira, e os restantes edifícios. A presente proposta pretende manter a imagem original do terreiro, mas criando espaços verdes e pedonais para promover uma maior vivência do espaço.
Os armazéns serão convertidos em habitações, galeria de exposição, centro de convívio e creche. De forma a complementar a malha urbana, são propostos dois novos volumes, com acesso direto à Calçada da Ajuda. Um deles acolhe o mercado e, o outro, um ginásio.
O objetivo desta intervenção é permitir a vivência entre diferentes utilizadores do espaço e também criar uma interligação entre os residentes e os visitantes. O trabalho ambiciona refletir sobre algumas estratégias de aumento de sustentabilidade, através da produção de bens de primeira necessidade no próprio bairro, mediante a disponibilização de hortas, cumprindo as premissas da “Cidade de 15 minutos” e das “Economias circulares urbanas”.
The current Master's Final Project (MFP) proposes the rehabilitation of the former Lancers 2 Regiment Barracks on Calçada da Ajuda, Lisbon, focusing on the theme of Hospitality Units. These units are envisioned as catalysts for economic development, cultural diversity, and tourism, providing employment, amenities, and contributing to heritage and environmental preservation. The Barracks feature a spacious courtyard between the main building, housing the Hospitality Unit, and the other structures. The proposal aims to maintain the original image of the courtyard while creating green and pedestrian spaces to enhance the overall experience. The warehouses will be repurposed into residences, an exhibition gallery, communal center, and a daycare. To complement the urban fabric, two new structures are suggested, directly accessible from Calçada da Ajuda. One housing a market and the other, a gymnasium. The objective of this intervention is to foster interaction among diverse users of the space and create a connection between residents and visitors. The project aims to reflect on sustainability strategies by locally producing essential goods within the neighborhood, establishing gardens, aligning with the concept of the 15-minute city and urban circular economies.
