Bairro Marechal Carmona is a neighborhood in Cascais, Portugal, in need for intervention. That given, the present proposal leans over the city’s emergency and its relationship with its inhabitants and passers-by from the point of view of collective housing, once again, revealing itself as a need and the answer to the possibility of establishing a “community” with those who are here and those who are to come. The physical space establishes a relationship with the activities that are performed there. In order to understand this relationship, the users that give life to the space and the traces of time passing through the neighborhood are characterized – the collective memory, the stories under stories. Crucial questions are raised about the design and the experience of architecture and its countless attempts to undertake the rich critical literature of cultural studies, the dance between architectural discourse and critical theory. The interest in hidden, intimate and spatial relationships and encounter and exchange practices within day-to-day practices.
