Resumo(s)
The presente master dissertation intends to reflect on the work, the course and the thought of the Portuguese artist Pedro Cabrita Reis. His work, built from the 1980s, covers a diversity of pratices that manifested in the vast field of sculpture, painting, drawing, photography, ceramics and interventions in the public space, with references to several moments in philosophy and the history of art. The genesis of the work begins in the artist as a body that observes the world, and in it is situated, using the experience itself and the values of art as the raw material of his artistic work. In a blend of life, nature and art, he builds a world based on an intense metaphorical structure, where original and archetypal values are evident in the work, which also heightens the concepts of melancholy or construction. Ways of being, ways of articulating the diverse in the universe, ways of creating memory from the places of forgetfulness. The incorporation of symbols, evocative and poetic writing, the "recycling" of the memory of the materials themselves, a work that through the hermeneutic action of the spectator, gains an unmistakable ontological dimension
