This work addresses podcasts and their role in learning and acquiring foreign languages, with European Portuguese as its focus. The extremely fast growth of the new technologies plays a remarkably important role in teaching, learning and acquiring foreign languages. Podcasts are no exception, and there is already a diverse range of options created specifically for learning and acquiring foreign languages. The first part of this work presents the theoretical grounds on the current context of learning and acquiring foreign languages, always incorporating the use of technologies. An analysis is made on the importance of outlining the learner's profile in order to design the best possible course to learn the target language. The different types of technologies currently used in the process of learning and acquiring foreign languages were identified, highlighting listening materials, specifically podcasts, and their role in the acquisition of foreign languages through the concept of comprehensible input developed by Krashen (1985/2017). The second and final part of this work is focused on the development of the Daily Portuguese podcast, a podcast that aims to promote daily contact with European Portuguese for intermediate level learners. To achieve this, several theoretical aspects, covered in the previous part of this work, have been taken into account. Some technical aspects have also been detailed. The latter involved analyzing the material and more practical aspects that are much needed to prepare the podcast. The creation of the podcast proceeded as intended, containing ten episodes that were published over two weeks. These met the interests and objectives of the target audience, serving as useful material for the successful acquisition of European Portuguese as a foreign language.
