Abstract(s)
O mundo enfrenta uma sociedade em constante mudança, avançando a um ritmo ao qual as cidades nem sempre conseguem responder atempadamente. As Utopias sempre foram vistas como a forma de os arquitetos responderem à reestruturação das sociedades atuais. Contudo, ao discutir como estas são vistas, o presente trabalho visa solucionar o problema do abandono urbano e dos espaços vazios. Reabilitando estes espaços com a infraestrutura mais simples possível, os mesmos podem ser novamente inseridos na dinâmica da cidade através de uma estrutura temporária e de baixo custo.
O trabalho aprofunda conceitos como a requalificação e a arquitetura efémera, respondendo então ao problema em mão. Estuda-se o limiar entre a construção permanente e a efémera – uma sustentando a outra. A construção permanente abre espaço para a estrutura modular proposta, removível e de baixo custo, enquanto esta última dá uma nova vida à primeira. O módulo básico passa por transformações, adaptações e replicações para diversas tipologias de utilização.
O presente trabalho debruça-se sobre uma implementação específica em Marvila, Lisboa. Esta zona periférica da cidade, repleta de espaços abandonados, será casa para o teste deste limiar, desenhando um parque e promovendo a continuidade de uma panóplia de edifícios permanentes e transitórios. Algumas destas estruturas servirão como estruturas de apoio cultural propostas, desde espaços mais significativos como um teatro, até outros mais informais e mais pequenos. Em contrapartida, outras estruturas evoluem para habitações definidas pelos próprios ocupantes. Estas construções priorizam a flexibilidade e a adaptabilidade, oferecendo um leque de oportunidades aos seus habitantes e respondendo de forma dinâmica à sua génese e às necessidades da comunidade.
The world is facing an ever-changing society, evolving at a pace at which cities are not always able to respond timely. Utopias have historically been seen as the architects' way of responding to the restructuring of current societies; however, by discussing how they are perceived, the present work aims to solve the problem of urban abandonment and voids. By rehabilitating these spaces through the simplest infrastructure possible, they can be inserted again into the dynamics of the city through temporary and fixed low-cost structures. The work delves into concepts such as requalification and ephemeral architecture, responding then to the problem at hand. The threshold between the permanent and the ephemeral construction is studied—one which supports the other. The permanent makes room for the proposed modular, removable, and affordable structure, whilst the latter activates the former. The basic module undergoes transformations, adaptations and replications to various usage typologies. The present work explores a specific implementation in Lisbon's Marvila district, a fringed area of the city surrounded by derelict abandoned spaces. By designing a park and fostering the continuity of both permanent and transient buildings, Marvila will be home to the experimentation of this threshold, in which envisioned structures range from essential cultural support hubs, such as a theatre, all the way down to more informal and smaller performance spaces. In contrast, other spaces evolve into housing defined by the occupants themselves. These constructions prioritise flexibility and adaptability, offering a range of opportunities to their inhabitants and responding dynamically to their genesis and the community's needs.
