Translating into Portuguese the letter addressed by the Humanist Poggio Bracciolini to D. Henrique, the Portuguese King's uncle, in 1448-1449, the authors analyse how European Christianity regarded not only the Muslims, then considered a menace, but also the different peoples the Portuguese encountered in their exploratory travels along the coasts of Africa.
