| dc.description.abstract | O presente trabalho reflecte sobra a democracia desde as Guerras Mundiais que marcaram os contextos sociais, políticos e económicos, até os desafios actuais. Oferece-se uma visão dessas mudanças e profundas transformações que moldaram o mundo contemporâneo. Examinaremos as principais tendências, desafios e perspectivas que marcaram esse período. O século XXI trouxe novos desafios à democracia. O aumento da globalização, juntamente com avanços tecnológicos, redes sociais e fake news, desafiou a capacidade dos governos democráticos de responder eficaz-mente às preocupações de seus cidadãos. A ascensão do populismo em muitos países levanta questões sobre a resiliência das instituições democráticas. Na era da nova ordem pós-democrática, a tradicional definição de democracia está a passar por profundas transformações. Novas formas emergem, redefinindo a maneira como as decisões são tomadas e como os governos interagem com os seus eleitores. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | The present work reflects on democracy since the World Wars that marked the social, political, and economic contexts to the current challenges. It offers an insight into these changes and pro-found transformations that have shaped the contemporary world. We will examine the key trends, challenges, and prospects that marked this period. The 21st century has brought new challenges to democracy. The increase of globalization, along with technological advancements, social media, and fake news, has challenged the ability of democratic governments to effectively address their citizens' concerns. The rise of populism in many countries raises questions about the resilience of democratic institutions. In the era of the new post-democratic order, the traditional defi-nition of democracy is undergoing deep transformations. New forms are emerging, redefining how decisions are made and how governments interact with their constituents. | pt_PT |
