| dc.description.abstract | Throughout the years, household lighting has mirrored the evolution of technology. Whether natural or artificial, lighting systems have been developed with household comfort and energetic efficiency in mind. The ever-growing ensemble of technological tools available has pushed lighting designers to take more conscientious, economic and efficient decisions regarding light as a material resource. This essay explores the practices and technologies of lighting, natural and artificial, within a household environment, focusing mainly on the work of renown lighting designers: Janet Turner, Richard Kelly, William Lam, Gary Gordon and Jason Livingstone. What follows is a guide of good habits, regarding household lighting, divided in two parts: the first concerning technical areas of residence such as kitchens and W.C., and the second concerning permanence areas such as the bedroom, living room and study. | pt_PT |
