The Railway process of expansion in Portugal, during the twentieth century, was a period of great transformation that marked the connection between urban planning and the railway architecture of the town of Entroncamento. The unbridled construction of the vast railway legacy, based on the overlap of planning strategies and policies, along with the extended periods of divestment are today reflected in the disarticulation of the urban structure and the abandonment of part of the existing railway facilities, which therefore has led to urban voids and harmed the inhabitants quality of life. Thus, the proposal "From the Residual Space to Inhabit" intends to adopt architectural solutions that ensure the functional integration of these voids, as qualified public and private spaces, aiming to value and reactivate the local cultural heritage. This place, which has often drawn the attention of many, will now see a project that seeks to articulate an existing architecture and currently in rehabilitation, with a contemporary architecture, going towards an increasingly global society.
