Orthorexia Nervosa is characterized by a pathological obsession with “healthy” eating, leading to physical and psychosocial impairment. This theme is not a well-known topic among health care professionals and there is not a universal consensus on its definition, diagnostic criteria or if it should be considered an eating disorder (ED). This study intends to review and systematize the scientific knowledge that is relevant to the clinical approach, such as signs, symptoms and potential therapeutic approaches. A narrative literature review model from the last ten years was adopted, using Pubmed and Science Direct as research websites and the words “Orthorexia Nervosa” as the search term. By this mechanism, 404 papers were identified. After deduplication, 362 were analyzed. They were selected based on the title and abstract. After a careful analysis, 15 papers were included in this study. This review intends to contribute to a greater awareness of health care professionals regarding this topic, which will help them provide a more appropriate therapeutic approach and the recognition of the necessity of additional research.
