Resumo(s)
As the theme for my dissertation, I have chosen the feeling of anguish. Nas trevas will be, above all, a first effort to define and understand a very personal feeling that has remained unknown throughout my artistic development and which, with this research will be revealed as a fundamental factor in the analysis of my work. For this reasons, I am interested in how this emotion can erroneously and detrimentally shape the perspectives we form of the world around us, on how we relate to others and ourselves, leading to unhealthy states of mind that afect us physically and mentally. At the same time, I also try to analyze anguish as a feeling with a very special contradictory meaning, since it occupies a mysterious intermediate, always oscillating between what is slow and what is fast, between lack and excess, between despair and euphoria. A kind of feeling that, despite its destructive tendencies, inspires imagination, allowing all sorts of creation, including artistic creation. Thus, driven by anguish, the process of creating the work of art becomes a moment of tension between two opposing poles and the birth of the work itself reveals to be a kind of miracle. Being aware of the extension of this theme, I intend to make an analysis of the nature of this state across several different disciplines such as mythology, philosophy, psychology, psychoanalysis, theology, sociology, among others, in order to comprehend every aspect that characterize this feeling and investigate the presence of anguish in the artistic domain. Since this is a theoretical-practical dissertation, I will complement the theoretical component with my artistic project, which will focus on drawing and painting. This inclusion will serve, not only to deepen some points presented in the theoretical part and to reconcile referents with characteristics of my work, but also to reveal my point of view on the main theme, in which will be inserted the most relevant concepts analyzed in this dissertation
