dc.description.abstract	A presente dissertação teve como principal objetivo analisar as representações sociais das pessoas mais velhas, bem como os estereótipos e as atitudes sobre as mesmas na imprensa escrita portuguesa, nomeadamente nos jornais, entre os anos de 2014 e 2017. Sendo os jornais um dos mass media mais presentes na nossa sociedade como transmissores de informação e de conhecimento, destaca-se a sua relevância no estudo das representações sociais das pessoas mais velhas na imprensa escrita. Para esta investigação foi utilizada uma base de dados proveniente do projeto de investigação “Representações mediáticas de públicos sensíveis”, registado no Centro de Investigação CAPP do ISCSP-UL, denominado de “Públicos sensíveis na imprensa”. A partir desta, foram analisados quantitativamente aspetos como o número de notícias por jornal, o local da história, o assunto, o enfoque da notícia, entre outros. Posteriormente foi criada, a partir desta mesma base de dados, uma amostra probabilística de 30 notícias que foi analisada através da análise de conteúdo com o intuito de identificar estereótipos e atitudes. Foram também analisadas as representações sociais das pessoas mais velhas. Destacaram-se um maior número de estereótipos negativos em comparação com o número de estereótipos positivos. Bem como nas atitudes, onde foram identificadas mais atitudes negativas do que positivas. Tanto na categoria dos estereótipos como nas atitudes, foi no aspeto social que correspondiam o maior número de identificações. Relativamente às representações sociais das pessoas mais velhas foram consideradas como negativas.	pt_PT
dc.description.abstract	This dissertation aimed to analyze the social representations of older people, as well as the stereotypes and attitudes about them in the Portuguese written press, particularly in newspapers, between 2014 and 2017. Since newspapers are one of the most present mass media in our society as transmitters of information and knowledge, its relevance in the study of the social representations of older people in the written press stands out. For this research it was used a database from the research project “Media Representations of Sensitive Audiences”, registered at the ISCSP-UL CAPP Research Center, called “Sensitive Audiences in the Press”. From this were analyzed quantitatively aspects such as the number of news per newspaper, the place of the story, the subject, the focus of the news, among others. Subsequently, from this same database, a probabilistic sample of 30 news was created and then analyzed through content analysis in order to identify negative or positive stereotypes and attitudes of biological, psychological and social aspects. The social representations of older people were also analyzed. A greater number of negative stereotypes stood out compared to the number of positive stereotypes. As well as attitudes, where more negative than positive attitudes were identified.. Both in the category of stereotypes and attitudes, it was the social aspect that corresponded to the largest number of identifications. Regarding social representations of older people were considered as negative.	en
