As práticas de ensino e de avaliação da compreensão na leitura nas escolas
têm merecido frequentes criticas e são habitualmente referidas em relatórios de
avaliações externas como aspectos a melhorar para garantir o sucesso das
aprendizagens. Com este estudo procura-se aceder a conhecimento que permita
compreender como os professores trabalham a leitura na sala de aula e utilizam a
avaliação como componente fundamental do processo de ensino e de
aprendizagem, quando utilizam as propostas disponibilizadas nos manuais
escolares. Desenvolve-se numa perspectiva de metodologia de análise qualitativa
e estrutura-se, conceptualmente, em tomo de noções de processos de compreensão
da leitura e sua avaliação, técnicas e instrumentos de avaliação da leitura em
manuais escolares. As conclusões alcançadas revelam que, relativamente aos
quatro manuais analisados, as propostas de avaliação disponibilizadas aos
professores não reflectem os contributos das actuais teorias sobre o ensino e
avaliação da compreensão na leitura e podem induzir a práticas tradicionais de
avaliação. O problema situa-se então no estabelecimento de pontes entre o
conhecimento disponibilizado pela investigação e a sua aplicação nas escolas,
nomeadamente a articulação entre a teoria e a prática pedagógica. A formação de
professores, assume neste contexto, um papel fundamental.
Teaching and evaluation practices of reading comprehension at school have often been criticized and they have usually been reported in external evaluating as features that must be improved in order to promote/ensure learning success. This study intends to access the knowledge that may make us understand how teachers work reading in the classroom and how they use reading evaluation as a fondamental element in the teaching and learning process, when they use the materials the text books offer them. It follows a methodological perspective of qualitative analyses and, conceptually, it is built on ideias of processes of reading comprehension and their evaluation, on techniques and tools of reading evaluation in text books. We concluded that, in what concerns the four text books analysed, the activities offered to teachers don't consider the contributions from the new theories on teaching and evaluation of reading comprehension and may lead to traditional evaluation practices. Therefore, the problem consists in bulding bridges between knowledge made offered by research and its application to school contexts, namely, the connection between the theory and pedagogical practice. Teachers' education play an essential role in this process.
