Resumo(s)
The article discusses Pina-Cabral life-long need to contend with a series of deeply equivocal attributions of Mediterraneanness elicited by his personal and familial history. The chapter calls for an ecumenical anthropology that responds to the politically relevant questions of the day, not by adopting politically constituted categories of comparison but by questioning them both ethnographically and analytically, and by grasping the inherent multipolarity of the task of de-ethnocentrification that defines our discipline.
