O papel da arte torna-se central na vida cultural ocidental pelo menos desde o renascimento e, como tal, é de estranhar que a sua teleologia e mesmo a sua definição tenham sofrido tantas alterações e causado tantas controvérsias que cada vez parecem mais difíceis de resolver. No século XX, Arthur C. Danto propõe uma definição de arte que parece resolver o problema da definição de arte, sem, no entanto, esgotar a complexidade do tema.
A partir de um tópico trabalhado pelo autor, Art of Disturbation, ir-se-á desenvolver de que modo uma determinada forma de ritual influencia ainda a produção artística pós-vanguardas e de que modo esta se apresenta de carácter feiticista. Nesse sentido, Walter Benjamin será indispensável nesta investigação, que pretende explorar a fundo relação estabelecida entre a arte e o seu auditório.
The role of art becomes the focus of western culture since, at least, the Renaissance. As such, it is weird that its teleology and even its definition have suffered so many changes and been the cause of so much controversy that seem harder and harder to solve. In the twentieth century, Arthur C. Danto proposes a definition of art that seems to solve that particular problema, without exhausting the theme. From a topic worked by the author, Art of Disturbation, we are going to develop in which ways a certain type of ritual still influences artistic production in a post avant-gard era, and in which way art has a fetichistic character. As such, Walter Benjamin will be a key figure in this investigation which seeks to explore the relationship between art and its auditorium.
