The dissertation deals with the wide topic of Citizenship and Peace Representations and Challenges in Contemporary Angolan Society. The research, carried out in a philosophical approach of interdisciplinary and dialogical relationship, tried to understand citizenship in contemporary Angolan society, having as main theme the reasons that contributed for certain speeches of political, legal, ideological and “scientific” nature to have been a fundamental resource in the interpretation of the process of guaranteeing rights and freedoms, namely, in the processes of inclusion and exclusion of Angolans in the colonial and post-colonial citizenship system. The main objective was to show how citizenship was formed and developed, analyzing the mechanisms of action and thought in contemporary Angolan society with reference to specific actions both of the power system and citizens in the Angolan public sphere. As a correlative goal, it was shown that, in the current circumstances of Angola, thinking about citizenship is the same as thinking about the consolidation of peace, two features that start to emerge as parallels in the 1990s but which, from 2002 onwards, will coincide on a single problem. The methods used were genetic analysis and the familiar analogy with the hermeneutic and phenomenological methods, through an exhaustive process of reflection, criticism and synthesis, associated with a qualitative theoretical research of a bibliographic nature that makes the relevance and structured representation of problem of citizenship. The results obtained, through the analysis of theories, models, indicators and other sources of information, determine the validity of these instruments by pointing out critical issues coinciding either with the hypotheses formulated, whose confirmation refers to the validity, in Angola, of social categories and policies embodied in “passive citizenship”, “non-democratic peace” and “plebiscitary democracy”, or with the conclusion that classifies the country as “not free”, “less peaceful” and “an authoritarian regime”.
