A presente dissertação tem como primeiro objectivo a exploração e o aprofundamento do conceito de autenticidade em arquitectura sobre prĂ©-existĂȘncias. Como segundo objectivo, o estabelecimento de um critĂ©rio fixo para a avaliação da autenticidade.
Na primeira parte da dissertação abordam-se os aspectos teĂłricos. A primeira abordagem ao conceito de autenticidade faz-se em abstracto, sem relação com nenhum tĂłpico. Neste contexto, autenticidade significa uma oposição ao falso. Posteriormente, trabalha-se o conceito de autenticidade dentro do campo da arquitectura sobre prĂ©-existĂȘncias. Incorpora-se na definição do conceito, os conceitos de harmonia e de identidade, em que autenticidade Ă© uma correspondĂȘncia harmoniosa entre duas partes: a intervenção arquitectĂłnica e a prĂ©-existĂȘncia.
Na segunda parte da dissertação explora-se o caso do Palåcio da Ajuda, em Lisboa, que foi recentemente intervindo e completado. Em primeiro lugar apresentam- se os aspectos essenciais da história do Palåcio e também alguma documentação de imagens que permite uma compreensão do que é o Palåcio e a sua história.
Finalmente, pegando nas conclusĂ”es a que se chegou com a primeira parte da dissertação, faz-se uma anĂĄlise crĂtica Ă intervenção arquitectĂłnica de JoĂŁo Carlos Santos na Ala Poente do PalĂĄcio da Ajuda. O objectivo desta anĂĄlise crĂtica Ă© perceber se a intervenção Ă© autĂȘntica ou nĂŁo e, consequentemente, se preserva ou nĂŁo os valores do PalĂĄcio.
This dissertation has as its first objective the exploration and deepening of the concept of authenticity in architecture on pre-existences. As a second objective, the establishment of a fixed criterion for the evaluation of authenticity. In the first part of the dissertation the theoretical topics are approached. The first approach to the concept of authenticity is made in abstract, unrelated to any topic. In this context, authenticity means an opposition to the false. Afterwards, the concept of authenticity is worked within the field of architecture on preexistences. It incorporates in the definition of the concept, the concepts of harmony and identity, in which authenticity is a harmonious correspondence between two parts: the architectural intervention and the pre-existence. The second part of the dissertation explores the case of PalĂĄcio da Ajuda, in Lisbon, which was recently intervened and completed. First, the essential aspects of the history of the palace are presented, as well as some documentation of images that allow an understanding of what is the Palace and its history. Finally, based on the conclusions reached in the first part of the dissertation, a critical analysis is made of the architectural intervention of JoĂŁo Carlos Santos in the West wing of PalĂĄcio da Ajuda. The objective of this critical analysis is to understand if the intervention is authentic or not and, consequently, if it preserves or not the palace values.
