Apenas alguns municípios reconhecem o Arquivo como um serviço de gestão de informação, representado no organigrama, dotado de recursos humanos e financeiros e com visibilidade interna e externa. Este é um estudo exploratório que cruza os resultados da mais recente caracterização dos profissionais de informação nos arquivos municipais e o Índice de Transparência Municipal desenvolvido pela Associação Transparência e Integridade relativo a 2017. Pretende-se verificar se existe relação entre a ordenação dos Municípios no índice com vários parâmetros relativos aos arquivos municipais. Esses parâmetros são: reconhecimento do serviço de Arquivo; abertura ao público do mesmo; existência de plataformas de descrição arquivística em linha; disponibilidade de serviços digitais em linha. Os dados relativos aos últimos três parâmetros foram recolhidos pela autora, entre junho e agosto de 2024, através da consulta dos sítios electrónicos dos municípios, enquanto os dois primeiros são fornecidos pelo estudo de Silva et al. (2023b).
